Programs and Courses
The School of Communication and Development Studies at the Papua New Guinea University of Technology (PNGUoT) offers a range of academic programs and courses designed to equip students with practical communication skills and a strong understanding of development issues. Our programs combine theory, applied learning, and community engagement to prepare graduates for careers in communication, media, development practice, and related fields.
Undergraduate Program
The school offers a Degree program in Communication for Development. The degree course, lasting eight semesters (four years), includes one semester of industrial experience. Find out more about the degree program via link below.
Postgraduate Programs
Overview
The school offers the following Postgraduate programs: Master of Communication Studies, Master of Philosophy in Communication and Development Studies, and Doctor of Philosophy in Communication and Development Studies. Refer below for the entry requirements.
- A merit degree or postgraduate diploma from a tertiary institution approved by the Postgraduate Studies, Research and Innovation Committee (PSR&IC), or
- A Bachelor degree of Honors standard (GPA 3 out of 5) from a tertiary institution approved by the PSR&IC
- Relevant first degree with an industry experience of more than two years
Master of Philosophy in Communication and Development Studies
- A merit degree or postgraduate diploma from a tertiary institution approved by the Postgraduate Studies, Research and Innovation Committee (PSR&IC), or
- A Bachelor degree of Honors standard (GPA 3.7 out of 5) from a tertiary institution approved by the PSR&IC
- Relevant first degree with an industry experience of more than two years
Doctor of Philosophy in Communication and Development Studies
- Must have a Master degree in a field of study related to the subject of the proposed research.
- Proven track record of research
- More than 2 years’ work experience
