Postgraduate Programs
Overview

The School of Forestry also offers postgraduate programs that deepen knowledge and research skills in forestry, environmental management, and sustainable resource use. These programs are designed for students seeking advanced expertise, leadership roles, and opportunities to contribute to innovative solutions for forest conservation and natural resource management in Papua New Guinea and beyond.

The school offers the following Postgraduate programs: Master of Philosophy in Forestry and Doctor of Philosophy in Forestry. Refer below for the entry requirements.

Master of Philosophy in Forestry
  • A merit degree or postgraduate diploma from a tertiary institution approved by the Postgraduate Studies, Research and Innovation Committee (PSR&IC), or
  • A Bachelor degree of Honors standard (GPA 3.7 out of 5) from a tertiary institution approved by the PSR&IC
  • Relevant first degree with an industry experience of more than two years

Doctor of Philosophy in Forestry
  • Must have a Master degree in a field of study related to the subject of the proposed research.
  • Proven track record of research
  • More than 2 years’ work experience
