Postgraduate Programs
Overview
The postgraduate programs offered by the School of Applied Physics are designed to advance knowledge and research skills in applied physics and related disciplines. Through advanced coursework and research-based training, these programs prepare graduates to contribute to scientific innovation, higher education, industry, and national development in Papua New Guinea and beyond.
The school offers the following postgraduate programs: Master of Science in Applied Physics (Course-Work), Master of Science in Climate Change and Renewable Energy Access (Course-Work), Master of Philosophy in Applied Physics (MPhil Research), Master of Technology in Exploration Geophysics and Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Physics (PhD Research). - A merit degree or postgraduate diploma from a tertiary institution approved by the Postgraduate Studies, Research and Innovation Committee (PSR&IC), or
- A Bachelor degree of Honors standard (GPA 3 out of 5) from a tertiary institution approved by the PSR&IC
- Relevant first degree with an industry experience of more than two years
2. Master of Science in Climate Change and Renewable Energy Access (Course-Work)
- A recognized University Degree in Science, Engineering, Social Sciences, Humanities, and Environmental Studies with above-average grades from a recognized University as per PNGUoT Post Graduate GPA minimum admission requirements.

3. Master of Philosophy in Applied Physics (MPhil Research)
- A merit degree or postgraduate diploma from a tertiary institution approved by the Postgraduate Studies, Research and Innovation Committee (PSR&IC), or
- A Bachelor degree of Honors standard (GPA 3.7 out of 5) from a tertiary institution approved by the PSR&IC
- Relevant first degree with an industry experience of more than two years
4. Master of Technology in Exploration Geophysics
- A merit degree or postgraduate diploma from a tertiary institution approved by the Postgraduate Studies, Research and Innovation Committee (PSR&IC), or
- A Bachelor degree of Honors standard (GPA 3.7 out of 5) from a tertiary institution approved by the PSR&IC
- Relevant first degree with an industry experience of more than two years
5. Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Physics (PhD Research)
- Must have a Master degree in a field of study related to the subject of the proposed research.
- Proven track record of research
- More than 2 years’ work experience
