About Us
The School of Postgraduate Studies at PNG University of Technology provides advanced academic and research training designed to develop highly skilled professionals, researchers, and innovators. The School supports master’s and doctoral candidates across diverse disciplines, offering rigorous supervision, quality research facilities, and an environment that fosters critical thinking and discovery. Admissions
The School of Postgraduate Studies welcomes applicants who are committed to advancing their academic and professional careers through research and advanced study. Admission into postgraduate programs is based on academic merit and relevant qualifications. Applicants must hold a recognized bachelor’s degree with a satisfactory academic record, and some programs may require professional experience, references, or a research proposal. All applications are assessed by the Higher Degrees Committee, ensuring that candidates meet the standards required for master’s and doctoral studies. Prospective students are encouraged to review program-specific requirements and submit complete applications before the published deadlines.
Candidates for the course based study programs, must enroll at the beginning of semester one. However, the candidates for the research based degrees (PhD, MPhil), can enroll either at the beginning of the first and/or the second semester.
Intending PG students are advised to check the PG Calendar 2022 for up-to-date information on the rules and regulations guiding the postgraduate programs they may wish to join. For detailed information on the courses and specific requirements, students are advised to contact the respective academic schools for further information.
Postgraduate Supervision
All the academic schools have qualified academic staff with experience in Postgraduate supervision in various disciplines. Moreover, PNGUoT has approved the appointment of Adjunct faculty to fulfil specialized academic needs in degree supervision and/or teaching. PNGUoT has MOUs with many institutions and organizations to best pool available talents from industries and organizations in the region.
Programs Offered
The Faculty of Postgraduate Studies, Research and Innovation, boasts an impressive portfolio of 22 PhD programs and 40 Master’s degrees, each meticulously designed to foster innovation, research, and academic excellence across various fields to cater to the diverse needs of our nation.
In 2024, we have launched five new master’s programs:
1. Master of Science in Applied Chemistry Â
2. Master of Applied Mathematics Â
3. Master of Applied Economics Â
4. Master of Science in Accounting and Finance Â
5. Master of Science in Climate Change & Renewable Energy
All these new master’s programs commenced in 2025.
Accommodation
Two separate male and female dorms are available to accommodate the postgraduate students. Meals are also provided in the student cafeteria.
