About Us

The Student Support & Facilities Centre (SS&FC) supports students by providing a range of services and facilities designed to enhance wellbeing, safety, and academic life at PNGUoT. Our team is committed to creating a supportive campus environment where students can thrive both personally and academically.

We perform our roles under two basic subsections: Students’ Facilities and Students’ Support services.

Office of the Deputy Registrar
SS&FC is headed by the Deputy Registrar or Director (Students Services) and oversees all functions of the Section.

Office of the Dean of Students
The Dean of Students generally administers all student matters from Accommodation, Meals, Counselling and most importantly Discipline.

Office of the Matron (Female Students)
The Matron administers and manages the Female Halls of Residence. The Matron is assisted by an Assistant Matron and takes care of all Female students’ accommodation queries.

Office of the Warden of Students (Male Students)
The Warden of Students administers and manages the Male Halls of Residence. The Warden is assisted by an Assistant Warden and takes care of Male students accommodation queries. The Office also oversees and manages the Male Janitors for the Male Halls of Residence.

Office of the Student Counsellor & Chaplaincy Services
The Student Counsellor and the Chaplains from different denominations provides approachable and professional counselling services to students (including staff). The primary focus is to provide counselling to help students (and staff) deal with personal and/or adjustment to issues that may interfere with their ability to progress academically and/or professionally to their fullest potential. The Office maintains strict confidentiality and other ethical principles at all times.

Office of SRC & Sports
The Office manages and supports the Students Representative Council (SRC) with its administrative functions. It also organizes Sports and other Recreational activities (academic/social) for the University (students/staff).
Student Facilities

Under the Student Facilities, we manage and have custody over the following facilities: Dormitories & Halls of Residence SS&FC manages the student dormitories for:
* allocation of rooms (Beginning of the Year)
* maintain and upkeep through a contractor as well as through the PNGUoT maintenance section.
* facilitating student clearance at the end of the year, including transport arrangements for drop-off at the airport.

The TESAS sponsored students are given priority in allocating the rooms at the PNGUoT owned dormitories. Whatever is left is allocated to the self-sponsored students.
* In many cases self-sponsored students are sent to the private owned accommodations, like the SDA College, The Catholic College and the AOG Okari campus.
* There are only two dormitories for the Postgraduate dormitories: one with 41 bed spaces for females and the other 41 bed spaces for males.

Students Mess:
The current Mess is operated by Unitech Enterprises Limited (UEL) through its own Catering Company (Unitech Catering Services) we grant students access to the Mess through room allocations (Tenancy Agreement Forms – TAFs). We maintain surveillance in the Mess and ensure the Catering staff prepare healthy meals. The new Mess has been completed in 2025 and students are now using it.

Sports & Recreational Facilities:
Sporting Facilities: monitoring and managing playgrounds and courts in terms of their usage (including the hire) for various sporting events.

Christian Center (CC):
Manage and schedule Christian fellowships for various denominations on campus and charge a fee for its usage. The Christian Center is open for both staff and students spiritual well being and development.

Union Board:
Manage the Driving School for beginners (both students, staff and corporate clients). TPlay school for children, Bus Shuttle for students, staff and dependents pickup/drop-off, Union Shop, a Coffee shop (Kaibar) for staff and students, where they can pay for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Kiosks for mobile phone services (Digicel, Telikom and Vodafone)
