The CoEER comes under the office of the Vice Chancellor and the Director reports to the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University. The daily operations of the CoEER and staff are managed by the Director and an administrative officer.
Board of Directors
The CoEER has a board and the Deputy Vice Chancellor is the chairman and the Director is the Executive Officer. The composition of the board is made up of members of senior staff from the faculty of Natural Resources, Built Environment, Engineering, Humanities and the Sciences.
The board’s main function, among its duties, is to provide strategic direction and oversight on strategy implementation in the best interest of the University.
The key responsibilities are to consider and approve annual strategic and implementation plans, identify initiatives and resources to implement the strategy, resource the strategy and monitor implementation, develop standing committees to address specific duties, and account for the work of its standing committees, and assign, oversee, and monitor the work of the Research Working Group (RWG).

🧑💼 Director of CoEER
Professor (Assoc.) Patrick S. Michael is the Director of the CoEER. He holds a PhD in Natural Resources and Environmental Management from the University of Adelaide, Master of Science in Plant Sciences from the University of Nottingham and Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from The PNG University of Technology, PNG. He has over 20 years of teaching and research experiences.
Dr. Michael’s areas of research interests are primarily in environmental sustainability, most of which are underpinned by natural resources management. He has published over 100 academic publications and one of the highly cited national academics of the University.

👥 Administrative Staff
The daily operation and management of CoEER is with the support of an administrative officer and two gardeners. Their core responsibilities are to assist the Director in daily management of the CoEER.

👩🔬 Scientific Staff
The CoEER has a number of scientific officers responsible for coordinating and managing the studies conducted.
The environmental chemist is responsible for heading all the researches related to environmental chemistry (natural environment including soil and water). Most of our studies are related to the impact of activities of human on movement of chemicals and their effects on organisms and ecosystems.
The terrestrial and aquatic biologist is responsible for all the studies related to environmental biology (ecology). Our research focus is on understanding how organisms interact with the environment and the cyclic features.
