The National Food Testing and Monitoring Centre (NFTMC) is located at the School of Applied Sciences, PNG University of Technology’s Taraka Campus in Lae, Morobe Province. The university’s School of Applied Sciences provides laboratory facilities and academic resources to support NFTMC’s work.

About Us

The National Food Testing and Monitoring Centre (NFTMC) at the Papua New Guinea University of Technology (PNGUoT) provides specialised laboratory services to support food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. The Centre undertakes scientific testing, analysis, and monitoring of food products to ensure they meet national and international standards. Through research, training, and collaboration with industry and government agencies, the NFTMC plays a key role in protecting public health and strengthening Papua New Guinea’s food systems. The Centre is a collaboration between the PNGUoT through the School of Applied Sciences and the PNG National Fisheries Authority (NFA).

NFTMC’s activities are focused on providing:
Analytical Testing on Food/Feeds and water samples, especially supporting the fish processing and food manufacturing industries. It also offers analytical testing services to other agriculture commodity sectors as well. Its current scope of accreditation includes:
