Student Support Services

The Student Support Services team provides guidance, assistance, and resources to help students navigate university life successfully. Through counselling, welfare support, and advisory services, we are committed to supporting students’ personal wellbeing and academic journey at PNGUoT.

Under our Students support function, we conduct various activities to keep our students engaged throughout each academic year. There is a variety of activities for the primary purpose of character and attitude building, fostering and instilling respect and discipline as they pursue their studies to become ‘world-class technocrats for the real world’.

Conducting Awareness and Engagements with Residential Students

Team SS&FC, the PNGUoT Medical team, and the Security personnel do Awareness to students: acceptable behaviours, security and Health issues within all the clustered dormitory areas. Team SS&FC also does awareness on the same issues at other locations where our students reside: AOG Okari campus and UARC campus within the PNGUoT campus.

Counselling Services

There has been an increase in the number of counselling cases since:
1. The male counsellor relocated from the main SS&FC office to our Operations Centre within the male dormitory area.
2. The recruitment of our Female Counsellor two years ago is now causing female students to go for counselling on psychological and social issues that are affecting them.

Discipline

The Office of the Dean of Students deals with all Students Disciplinary matters on campus. All registered students are bound by University Student Rules. Students who breach Rules Governing Students Behaviour on Campus are referred to the Dean of Students for counselling and later to the University Students Disciplinary Committee further disciplinary action. All students (resident/non-resident) must observe and adhere to University Students Rules to avoid being penalised.
